For the last four years, Prizm has assisted the Global Parts Division in marketing and fulfillment of their yearly promotions. The 2008 theme of "Outdoor Adventure" was well-received and gained both companies recognition in their industries. PRIZM RENEWS CONTRACT WITH FESTIVAL FOODS LA CROSSE, WI- Prizm, a leading provider of printing and marketing services has renewed its contract with Festival Foods. For over six years, Prizm has assisted Festival Foods with their weekly Green Sheet production and printing as well as store signage. "Prizm has provided us with consistently reliable service for the past 6 years," said Randy Munns, Director of Merchandising. "They have become an integral part of our marketing and sales support distribution strategy and renewing our contract with them was an easy decision." The two-year contract renewal will extend the six-year relationship between the companies to 2010. PRIZM ONE OF 15 WATERLESS PRINTERS IN THE U.S. AND CANADA LA CROSSE, WI- Prizm, a leading provider of printing and marketing services was one of the first American printers to embrace waterless printing. All of the printing presses at Prizm have been converted to waterless technology, to meet the printing industry's growing demand for waterless computer-to-plate (CTP) presses. Waterless printing is an offset lithographic printing process that eliminates the water or dampening system used in conventional printing. Worldwide use of CTPs has greatly increased since 1995, because no film process is involved in the direct printing of images onto plates. Because CTPs have the potential to reduce printing costs and lead time, it is expected that by 2007 they will account for a 30% share of the entire off-set plate market. "People are becoming aware of their personal responsibility in making their daily practices more environmentally friendly. They're also looking more closely at the environmental practices of the companies with which they do business.", said Prizm President, Doug Bruha. "At Prizm we realize that we must do our part to protect the environment, be less polluting, use all of our resources in a more sustainable manner, recycle more, and handle residual wastes in a more acceptable manner; resulting in a beneficial environmental impact and reducing energy and waste costs." Prizm’s presses use recyclable, non-toxic, thermic processed plates, where neither chemical development, nor toxic waste disposal are required. Waterless printing eliminates dampening-related volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the traditional printing process. Because presses running waterless come up to color and register so much faster, and hold those consistently throughout the press run, paper savings of 30 percent to 40 percent have been reported. In addition to saving trees, that also represents a significant manufacturing and paper cost savings. Prizm presses use vegetable oil-based inks. Although inks are not always considered the major source of VOCs in the printing industry, the decision to use substitute inks is a beneficial part of an overall toxics use reduction program and can help reduce the use of hazardous or toxic substances in other materials such as cleaning solutions. What are the benefits to our customers? Waterless plates are capable of extremely high screen rulings and, as a result, apply more ink to the printed piece. This results in a much larger range of colors in four color process printing. Since the water dampening chemistry is taken away, the printing ink cannot become emulsified. Thus, cleaner, sharper images are made possible.
